In Venezuela, Christmas means celebration, joy and delicious food. As an Honorary Reporter from that country, I find it exciting to write articles about Christmas as this season holds a special place in my heart.
Back home, Christmas is filled with warm breezes, vibrant decorations and traditional dishes. In Korea, however, the atmosphere is entirely different. The first snow of the season signals the start of the holiday period like twinkling lights, cozy markets and steaming street snacks.
On Nov. 27, Korea was blanketed by heavy snowfall. Yonhap News said Seoul saw its heaviest November snowfall since 1907 with 16.5 cm. This brought about both excitement and setbacks. Flights were canceled and snow clogged the streets, but people on social media welcomed winter.

The first snow of the season can be filled with love, unity and new beginnings. Koreans traditionally believe that it's a good omen and the perfect time for reconnecting and setting goals for the year ahead.
Sharing the first snowfall with someone special is also thought to signal a lasting relationship. This belief has often appeared in Korean entertainment content.
Koreans also have their very own winter music. One standout is the K-pop group EXO's songs "Miracles in December," "Universe" and "The First Snow," which are favorites of the season among K-pop fans.
The season's first snow in Korea marks a beautiful time of the year to share with loved ones.
